BSK: Values
In this session, we are going to talk about defining your Values.
Why are values important to talk about and to write down?
Here are the top three reasons:
People want to know what you stand for.
It helps you work out your Positioning.
Knowing your values helps you make decisions because they give you a framework to refer to.
Your values are all about How You Do Something. How you do things is sometimes more important than what you do.
A sample of Values to circle in on…
Approachable, Bold, Brave, Bright, Bubbly, Calm, Candid, Clinical, Casual, Charming, Cheerful, Confident, Cool, Courageous, Creative, Daring, Delicate, Detailed, Determined, Discreet, Disruptive, Energetic, Exclusive, Fast, Fearless, Fun, Healthy, Helpful, Honest, Humble, Innovative, Inspiring, Joyful, Kind, Loyal, Luxurious, Mature, Minimal, Modern, Mysterious, Natural, Passionate, Peaceful, Persistent, Positive, Powerful, Professional, Relaxed, Reliable, Secure, Simple, Stable, Strong, Trustworthy, Unique, Vintage, Wise, Witty.
The simplest way to think about setting your Values is in a team setting.
Imainge you hired someone, maybe you already have, or you have a business partner. These people are on your team and represent your Brand, so how would you want your team to conduct themselves? What do you want them to value and prioritize?
Think about this: How would you want your team to operate when you're not in the room?
